Pros:
There was no one there at drop-off. We had to write down our mileage and go inside for to the rental office. We wanted a final statement but he said he would email it. 27 hours later, we still don't have it.Cons:
Do NOT give other locations if a person requests the airport rental. We rented from a down town agency without our knowledge. Didnt find out until our flight was delayed and we called to notify them and found out they closed at 5:00pm. Very worrisome and costly to have it changed last minute. NOT GOOD!!2.0 Poor

Pros:
The car was good for my needsCons:
I requested an airport rental when I searched and when I went to the Enterprise desk at the airport I was told that it was off site. When I asked if they could come close to the rate it would have doubled. I had to take a $22 Uber to get the off site location. Of course I had missed that this was off site rental, but I would think Kayak could have highlighted that fact when reserving since my search was for an airport rental. This way the customer agrees to and it calls attention to it.10.0 Wonderful

Pros:
They initially called me 5 minutes before picking up my rental arranged online and told me there were no cars and to go go a different location (where the rates would be different, longer commute in rush hour). However, upon arrival, the team worked out an acceptable solution.Cons:
Online availability being accurate with the store and the 3rd party vendor who I used to book this car.2 locations in Downtown

Cons:
Advertised as smoke-free cars. Car smelled profusely of cigarette smoke. When asked to change for a different vehicle, customer rep apologized, but said nothing else was available. Reserved a midsize auto and was given an SUV which doubled my gas expense. Vehicle was in need of an oil change and ran out of windshield wiper fluid (alerts went off within a day of picking up my week ling rental.) Company did offer a small discount and were apologetic upon return of vehicle when I spoke to the manger.2.0 Poor

Pros:
I arrived before the rental center opened to pick up my vehicle, which was reserved several days ahead of time. I was to pick up at the 9 am opening. I was told by the counter person my vehicle was not there yet, and I would need to wait. She was very nice, to be clear. Then, after waiting for 20 minutes, I was told by the same woman that my car (a special 12-passenger van needed that day for a family trip) could not be found, and no one at any Avis ops center could help, and/or did not return her calls or texts. I continued to wait while she made calls as line volume permitted. She finally learned that the previous renter had not returned the vehicle and I would have to wait until at least 11. I asked for a substitution and got little help, so I walked down the street to Enterprise and they had the vehicle I was looking for, with a price match. After a 90 minute wait that meant missing other pickup appointments and delaying my family’s trip for nearly two hours, I was on my way - with a van from a competitor. Thanks for nothing, Avis. I will be going down the street to Enterprise from now on.Cons:

A complete joke, I was unable to get my vehicle because I was LIED TO over the phone. I verified over the phone that I would be able to pick up the bricks despite being under 25, where I was reassured I could still get it due to waived rules because of covid. Because of this I did not get my vehicle and was late for the next bout of traveling for my vacation. Absolutely no remorse from employees at store as well. Will NEVER recommend.Cons:

Cons:
This was the WORST customer service experience I have ever had--that is not hyperbole. I arrived early to pick up my rental vehicle and no one was at the counter. I said, "Hello, good morning!" so that anyone in the rear would be able to hear me. Tina came up from the back and asked if she could help me. I said that I was there to pick up my rental. She looked over both the Avis and Budget paperwork and told me she didn't have a car for me. I said that I had booked online and that I had a confirmation number. She said it didn't matter and she didn't have any cars available for me. I asked her how this could happen, and if she didn't in fact have a car for me, that she needed to assist me in locating one because I was CONFIRMED to have a vehicle. She said she wouldn't help me find a car. I protested and she said she would reach out to the airport to see if they had a car available and that she would get back to me later in the day if one came available. I said that was unacceptable and that she should make the phone call immediately--as I had been driven two hours south from Traverse City and was stranded without a vehicle. She made a phone call, left a message and said she'd have to see what they had to say. She made or took another call and at the conclusion of that call she said she would rent me a car--but it would have to be dirty because she didn't have time to clean it. Just wanting to get out of there and without any alternative I accepted. I completed the paperwork and went to the car which was VERY dirty. There was dog food all over the rear area, hair everywhere, fast food wrappers throughout and the vehicle REEKED of marijuana. Having no other option--I accepted the car. Shortly after getting underway I noticed also that the check tire pressure light was on. We pulled into a gas station and discovered that the pressure in the rear driver tire of our newly-rented vehicle was at 17PSI--it was supposed to be at 44PSI. What a SAFETY HAZARD! I do not understand how an owner/operator could send a vehicle out without being cleaned or safety checked. Based on the service I received I would never recommend Budget--especially this location to anyone.10.0 Wonderful

Jul 2016
Pros:
The car was clean and ready to go when I got there. It ran well, and was fuel efficient. Did not smell of stale smoke, and there were no mechanical issues.Cons:
This was the worst car rental experience I have ever had. It started Sunday morning when I was picking up my car. I was greeted at the desk by a gentleman "in training". He was wearing a dirty pair of jeans, an old Detroit Lions Tee Shirt, and a baseball cap. Very unprofessional. After fumbling with my information for a while, a lady finally came around to help out. After some more training and a lot of waiting (35 minutes!), I was shown my car. After I checked out the vehicle I went back in to finalize the rental. I was informed at that time that I was not able to park my personal car on site. What?! I'm renting a car from you, but yet I have to find somewhere else to park? This was a huge inconvenience to my and my family. The lady said I could go park at McDonalds down the road because "the manager there is cool with it". I have two problems with this: 1) There is no proof that McDonalds or any other private property where I choose to park would not tow my vehicle if left unattended for 4 straight days and 2) There is absolutely no notice that this is the case when booking the vehicle. So not only do I have to have my wife drop everything to come get my car, but she also has to inconvenience a friend to come down and get my car so it does not get towed. THEN, they have to drive my car back to McDonalds before I get home so its ready for me. Not very easy to do when she works full time and we have two young children. To top it all off, it was pouring rain, so I had quite a ways to walk after moving my car from the Budget lot to the McDonalds lot. The car was clean, and ran well, but that is about the only highlight of my experience. Your customer service continued to disappoint me when I came to return my vehicle. I filled up the gas tank to the top less than a half mile away. When asked if it was full, I said yes. The same lady asked if I was sure because they will charge me $9.89 if they take it there and ANY gas fits in. I explained to her that I filled it to the top, but it might be possible to fit a tenth of a gallon in there or so. She said it was up to me, but I will most likely get charged. So I am basically forced to go put more gas in (which ended up being 0.24 gallons) and bring it back. I made sure it was overflowing from the nozzle so I did not get charged any further. Hopefully you can tell that I am less than impressed with my experience this week. I want to let you know that this type of customer service (and overall policy of not being able to park on site) is ridiculous. My wife and I have rented from Budget/Avis quite a few times in the past, but will now be reconsidering our options. Even if you happen to be the most inexpensive, we will most likely choose another company so that when we travel for work or vacation we feel valued and appreciated. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or concerns about my experience. One location in Downtown

Pros:
I picked it up with less than 3/4 tank, and returned it with over 3/4 tank. You guys claimed I returned it empty and made me do the leg work on proving that. You sent me a receipt but then asked me to send it back to you as proof.Cons:
Stop your dishonest practices. You know there is a percentage of customers who won’t even pursue it, resulting in additional revenue for Hertz. But this comes at the expense of customers that do mind getting ripped off. I will not use Hertz again and will spread the word to my family and friends.10.0 Wonderful
